My Freedom, My Individuality

Individuality is my freedom. Golf became who I am today.

I've played golf for at least 10 years.

I am seventeen going on eighteen, meaning I've played it for more than 1/2 of my life.

Throughout a lifetime, people pick up and try new things. They either do it and quit or do it and continue. When people continue on, it becomes a part of who they are. Individuality is a beautiful thing; it embellishes life with diversity and sense of self.

My older brother urged my father to take him to the driving range and as the result, the idea of golf enthralled every single bit of me. It became an addiction. I picked up a club and could not put it down. Weirdly enough, I feel that I am no one without golf. It taught me integrity, sportsmanship, and honesty all while keeping me leveled. I'm lucky I have the freedom to do what I love and be who I am.

Without freedom, nobody would have individuality. Freedom gives you the power to do anything, essentially. In a world in which you cannot say or do what you want, then are you even living? If you follow the requisitions of the government to please them, then you are nobody. You would just be a doll, following orders and unconsciously "living". You are not you.

People do not embrace individuality enough. We are all focused on fitting in instead of standing out. If the normality becomes fitting in, then people become alike and that's just plain boring. Embracing our differences and being the best person you can ever achieve should be everyone's goals. The differences you see in other will help you grow as person, evolve you for the better, humble you, and motivate to fulfill your endeavors.

Those who are afraid of standing out are building up a world full of the same type of people but those who strive to one's fullest potential will create better people and increases the necessary amount of diversity.
