A Real-Life Wall-E

Ever been stuck in a pickle and desperately wished you could snap your fingers and BAM! the problem is solved? Luckily with modern technology, every solution you could ever want is at your fingertips!

Of course, carrying around a huge phone all the time is a problem itself. Whether it's reading a text, typing something on your Grocery List app, or being too engorged in the latest tweet that went viral, there will always be something in the real world to disturb you from your own virtual mind. A simple task of walking down the street can turn into a frantic and awkward mess when you accidentally "flat-tire" the person in front of you or bump heads with another who's looking down. I too, have been a victim of scrolling through Instagram and almost being run-over by a bicyclist. Also, giving people flat-tires because I was reading my Twitter feed isn't a very public-friendly activity. If I had a dime for every glare and eye-roll I received, I could buy an island.
Having to carry around a three-pound piece of stainless steel is such a burden we all have to bear for the price of possessing our precious technological advancements.

But what if we didn't have to anymore? What if one day we didn't have to worry about bumping into others or losing our entire lives in a small six-inch tablet? Imagine a world of floating loungers with screens to obey your every wish and command. At just the flick of a button, you wouldn't have to hold up any heavy screens or have to worry about other people anymore. Pretty awesome right? No walking or hand-lifting is required! It's just you, your seat, and the screens - a personal "bubble" for your enjoyment and pleasure.
Think of all the people that would be saved of all the awkward encounters and "flat tires". People wouldn't have to worry about the possibility of losing their belongings so they focus their minds on more important things. Now, no one would complain about slow walkers on their handheld devices because we'd all be going the same pace.

Why settle and miss out on the technological advancements engineers have given us by looking up while you're walking. Save yourself the smile that could brighten someone else's bad day, there's no need for that. As a general public, we don't have a problem with socializing with each other. I've never seen a person use their phone as a scapegoat to weed themselves out of awkward conversations and eye-contact.
Looking up can blind you of the sun's rays. Let's just look down from now on.
