One Prom Dress, Two Girls

Friday afternoon was when my face and world came crashing down. I was minding my own business when my classmate brought up the subject of prom. More specifically, prom dresses. If there's anything more important than scoring a date, it's scoring the perfect dress. Being the responsible and experienced school-dance-attendee that I am, I got my dress ahead of time. Three months ahead of time. The year before, I somehow managed to wait until the day of prom to get my dress and it was a disaster! As a result, I went on Rent the Runway this year and ordered the dress I had been eyeing for some time. (It was always either booked or I didn't have an event to wear it for). Imagine my intense frustration when my classmate shared that her friend had also rented the identical dress!

I was first struck with disbelief. I thought, "No... that's not possible, that dress is nearly impossible to get your fingers on." Then I was curious, "Who could it be?!" I was determined to weasel the information out of the classmate who had caused my distress. After I let all of the steam rise out of my ears, I began considering the possibilities. This isn't something that is only affecting me, but countless women of all ages for any event. Last year, at junior prom, one of my girlfriends had a total of three other girls wearing the same dress as her! I just knew that I had to put an end to this world-wide nightmare.

I sorted out the options and came up with the optimal solution: destroy the other dresses. If you choose to do so, your chances of having the same dress as anyone are slim to none! You won't have to face the embarrassment of matching with some pathetic stranger or worse, the pathetic stranger wearing it better.

First, you must collect all of the garbs. Go to every retail store, every home, every stylist, anyone and everyone who might have a hold of the design. Now the fun part comes in, it's up to you to decide how you'd like to demolish them. You can throw them in a clear area and light them on fire, take a pair of scissors and alter the style horrendously, or tear them up like a true modern-day savage.

Of course, there are alternatives such as getting another dress, wearing it and not caring, or maybe considering approaching the other person and laughing it off. But who wants to do that? This is prom for chrissakes! Sure you should have posted your intended dress on social media in order to "claim" the dress or communicated with other students, but that would ruin the whole effect. Once you've found your dress, there is no stopping you from being the only one to wear it!

Sincerely,

Pamela

How tragic!!
