He doesn't apologize; He just simply does what he wants.
It seems too often that we [the people] are too apologetic about who we are. But we never realize, why on Earth are we feeling sorry for being the person we want to be? Why are we being told to be ourselves, but then cowering away in the shadows when we show a mere inch of our true selves to the world? Are we that afraid of society's views upon ourselves that we'd suppress our true feelings and actions in the fear of being shunned and branded "weirdly"?
This is the time to stomp your foot down and start being who you truly are. Refuse to go back to not liking who you were. This is the time you have to just let go and be yourself. Falling in love with yourself doesn't make you vain, selfish, or weird - it makes you indestructible. Once you feel that you can do something, you're already halfway there.
I know, I know, it seems way easier said than done, but once you finally accept yourself for who you are meant to be, life has a whole new meaning. You are hurting no one but yourself by not allowing yourself to be true to the inner wild-child/bookworm/rocker dude/religious devout deep down inside. Do yourself a favor and let them shine.
As cliche as this entire post sounds, I believe it is do-able. It might not be right this exact second, but one day it will - I'm sure of it. You are the maker of your universe, the world is your oyster; as long as you do what you want. You might break some hearts by fulfilling your dreams, but that's okay. Your purpose of living isn't to entertain or abide by someone else's standards and pleasures.
Live the heck out of your life - live it hard. You only get one so please don't waste it.
Do us all a favor and make yourself happy. Yes, there will people who will find joy and go out of their way to see you live miserably. Just know that the most rewarding feeling in life is knowing and doing what others say you can't. No one wants to remember their life with a bucket full of "I can't"s - it just sounds unsatisfying and incomplete.
Do you want to sound like an incompetent imbecile who never once finally accepted who they were and how they wanted to go about their life? No, I highly doubt it so JUST BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE (that was not a request).
Stay awesome, Gotham.
